Gianni Versace’s Murder

On July 15th 1997, he was found shot to death on the front stairs of his extravagant mansion in Miami.There were several theories on what happened to the 50-year old Italian designer that morning.Some people believed that it was a result of a mob hit.However,not a long time later Andrew Cunanan became a prime suspect(he was on the run from the police in 3 states at the time).He was a 27-year old charmer who had a hard childhood and was known for getting into romatic relationships with older,rich men.Then they cut him out of their lives so he was no longer financially stable. He relied on their money so it made him furious.People speculated that this was the reason why he went on a spree of murders in April 1997.He started with killing two men in Minnesota with whom he was romantically involved earlier.After he committed this crimes he flew to Miami and murdered two more men but this time he didn’t have a connection with any of them.On July 15th the assasin waited for Versace to return back to his villa from his morning coffe and attacked him. Gianni was shot twice and the serial killer walked away like nothing happened. On July 24th (8 days after the tragedy) Cunanan committed suicide on his houseboat. He did it with the same gun he killed the famous designer. To this day the steps of his villa in Miami are a popular spot for tourists.

There are many types of evidence in a crime scene.   The first one is called trace evidence, it contains: dirt,soil,twigs,fibers,sand,grass,leaves, tape,gravel and bullet fragments. When the proof is identified you should collect it and follow the steps below: 1.Take a photo of it and document it 2.Secure the data(place it somewhere safe fe.in an envelope or in a bag) 3.Close,seal or tape a paperbag/envelope and label it. 4.Put a date,signature and time on the package. The second type is biological evidence. It includes skin,blood,semen,hair,urine and saliva.Swabs can include fe.bitemarks,nails,buccal or skin. Hair should be placed in a wrapping. The same process for packaging,securing and labeling is used for the collection of trace evidence. The third type is clothing evidence. If the person is wearing the clothes they had at the time of the crime,all items can be considered as evidence. Reindeer eyes change color in different seasons

Reindeers have the ability to change the color of their eyes to help them get through dark, northern winters. Glen Jeffery - professor of neuroscience at the Institute of Opthamology at UCL- explains why most of the time we see glowing, golden eyes of animals. Tapetum lucidum is a part of an eye which produces that golden reflection and thanks to it they have better sight in the dark by bouncing light from the back of the eye through the retina a second time. Everything changed when the slaughterhouse in Norway sent Jeffery two jars - the first one from winter and the second one from summer - filled with reindeer eyes.He was shocked when he opened the winter ones because the eyes were blue.
