The disappearance of Madelaine McCann

This is one of the most famous missing-person case in the world and i’m convinced that many people already heard about it.

On May 3rd 2007, a 3 year old,British girl vanished from her apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal.She was spending there her spring break holiday with her family (two younger siblings and her parents - Kate and Gerry).

This day the McCanns and their friends went to a restaurant that was located 55 meters away from the place they were staying.They left the kids alone in their beds in the ground-floor apartment at 8.30pm .They checked on them a few times until 10pm - at this time Kate discovered that one of the children (Madelaine) is missing. There are many theories on what happened that evening. At first Portugese police believed that there was an unfortunate accident at a resort and the adults covered it up but there was no evidence for that. Then in 2011 a private detective announced that the girl was probably abducted by a stranger who broke in before he committed this act. In 2013 he released  photos of the possible suspects and right after that the police reopened the investigation. In 2021 the prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said that the pedophile Christian Bruecker kidnapped and murdered the girl.He hopes to press charges against him this year.

But for now the case remains unsolved.

    There has also been a huge debate in the British media about how much the parents are responsible for what happened.

There are many types of evidence in a crime scene.   The first one is called trace evidence, it contains: dirt,soil,twigs,fibers,sand,grass,leaves, tape,gravel and bullet fragments. Reindeer eyes change color in different seasons

Reindeers have the ability to change the color of their eyes to help them get through dark, northern winters. Glen Jeffery - professor of neuroscience at the Institute of Opthamology at UCL- explains why most of the time we see glowing, golden eyes of animals.
